Known for its fresh-made custard that’s smoother and denser than regular ice cream, Andy’s is a go-to treat for many families, couples, and tourists.
How Andy's Frozen Custard Started
Andy's Frozen Custard began in 1986 when John and Carol Kuntz opened their first store in Osage Beach, Missouri. After falling in love with frozen custard during a trip to Wisconsin, the couple learned the craft from Leon and Doris Schneider, owners of the iconic Leon's Frozen Custard in Milwaukee.
They named the business after their son Andy and opened on March 19, 1986. What started as a small family venture quickly became a local legend at the Lake of the Ozarks thanks to its incredibly smooth, fresh-churned custard.
The family soon expanded to Springfield, Missouri, where Andy and his wife Dana worked hands-on to help grow the business into the beloved chain it is today.
The Andy's Frozen Custard location in Branson that we know and love, opened their windows in 2005.
I have no idea how many times I've enjoyed Andy's Frozen Custard over the years, so I'll just say it's quite a few. I drive by a lot and talk to people on my Facebook page who tell me exactly what their favorite frozen treat is.
"Pineapple cheesecake concrete or chocolate with candy pecans"
- Vicki Motsinger
If I had to pick just one, my all-time favorite is the Turtle Sundae — that perfect combination of caramel, hot fudge, and pecans is hard to beat. Honestly, anything with caramel and hot fudge is a winner in my book.
When friends and family visit, Andy's is a good choice if you want to stay in the area of town where the Branson Ferris Wheel is.
